Walsh, Ward, Badgley Get A Stepfather

Dylan Walsh, Sela Ward and Penn Badgley have joined the cast of Screen Gems remake of the 1987 thriller “The Stepfather” reports Variety.

The story centers on a teenage boy (Badgley) who discovers his soon-to-be stepfather (Walsh) isn’t all he appears. In fact, the man who fell in love with his mother (Sela Ward), might be a psycho who murdered his previous family.

Adrianne Palicki is in negotiations to round out the cast as the boy’s girlfriend. The studio is aiming for more of a Hitchcock-style thriller than the slasher overtones of the original.

Nelson McCormick (“Prom Night”) will helm from a script by J.S. Cardone. Production is aimed to start in March or April.
