In the wake of Andrew Lincoln’s departure from the series and the announcement yesterday of his new three-movie deal continuing his character, the remaining stars on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” have signed on for fancy new deals keeping them with the franchise.
Actors Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol) have both signed new three-year, franchise-spanning deals that ensure they will be paid even if their characters are written off or moved to an offshoot or spinoff. Reedus will earn $350,000 per episode with guarantees and advances, worth anywhere from $50-90 million overall.
McBride has also received a ‘big pay bump’ estimated at $20 million over the course of the new contract. Both will now have the flexibility to move between shows and projects within the franchise meaning cameos in the films are quite possible.
Danai Gurira (Michonne), who has been very vocal about saying she loves the show and wants to stick with it despite all the opportunities she’s getting in terms of film offers, is also in negotiations for a new contract. AMC reportedly wants her to continue on whatever basis she can make work.
