AMC must be very happy with how the pilot turned out as the network is moving forward with its “The Walking Dead” spin-off series.
Like its flagship, the first season will consist of six hourlong episodes. But AMC have gone even further, pre-emptively renewing the drama for a second season as well, though the episode count for it has yet to be announced.
The series, which still has yet to score an official title, is said to be a prequel that takes place in Los Angeles at the onset of the zombie outbreak. Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey lead the cast.
The first season will premiere on AMC in the late summer, likely airing all of its episodes before the sixth season debuts in October. The spin-off’s second season will debut in 2016.
