Walking Dead Returns To Ratings

The second season premiere of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” last night broke records with the strongest telecast for any drama in basic cable history.

7.3 million viewers overall tuned into the first broadcast of the episode with 4.8 million of those in the key adult 18-49 demo, a 38% and 36% increase respectively over season one’s series average on AMC. Repeat viewings later that night culminated in 11 million viewers total for the episode.

AMC’s president Charlie Collier said in a press release “That The Walking Dead is now the most watched drama in the history of basic cable is staggering, just like our zombies.”
