AMC’s “The Walking Dead” closed out the first half of its season last weekend with 15.2 million viewers and a superb 7.5 rating among adults 18-49 in Live+3 returns. That however was down by nearly 20% on last year’s mid-season finale.
Much of the publicity surrounding the seventh season has been the ratings plunge since the seventh season premiere and its stunning high of over 17 million viewers, but the show’s averages for the seventh season has been around 16.1 million viewers per episode and an 8.3 rating – numbers almost any other series would dream to have.
Even with the dip it remains TV’s biggest series in the key demographic, and the third most-watched series on television overall behind only “The Big Bang Theory” and “NCIS”.
