Appearing on Sunday night’s AMC’s “The Talking Dead” talk show, filmmaker Paul Feig surprisingly revealed that the highly popular zombie drama series “The Walking Dead” would have an influence on the upcoming all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot he’s directing. He tells Screencrush:
“I will say, I was very inspired by this show. What I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it’s always about gauntlet run. And that’s something; an element I want to bring to this Ghostbusters reboot is having to get through these various obstacles that are supernatural and all that. I really feed off of The Walking Dead.”
Despite the team-up of female comics, Feig has previously said he plans to be scarier than the original Ivan Reitman film. Even so, a relentlessly bleak and grim tone doesn’t seem to fit the tone of the “Ghostbusters” franchise.
The new take on the franchise hits cinemas in July next year.
