When Marvel Studios released character posters for the upcoming “Avengers: Endgame,” it finally confirmed something long rumored – that Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie will appear in the upcoming feature after having sat ‘Infinity War’ out.
Speaking to The Los Angeles Times this week, Thompson of course can’t say much but was happy to confirm her character is alive: “she’s alive though because the Russo brothers have said that, she’s not dead.” She can’t however offer an explanation as to what she was doing during the events of ‘Infinity War’.
Then she revealed something surprising – that she’s heard rumblings of a fourth standalone “Thor” film, one that would feature “Thor: Ragnarok” director Taika Waititi behind the camera again:
“I heard that a pitch has happened for [another ‘Thor’ film]. I don’t know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika would come back.”
It’s still unknown what shape the MCU will take in the wake of ‘Endgame’ and whether any of the key characters – especially the original ‘Avengers’ team – will be killed off in the process. In any case, it’ll likely be some time before we see Thor on the big screen again after this.
