Wahlberg Confirmed For Fifth “Transformers”

Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he’ll return for the upcoming fifth film in the “Transformers” franchise, reprising his role of inventor and scientist Cade Yeager. No word if Nicola Peltz or Jack Reynor will reprise their roles from the fourth film “Transformers: Age of Extinction” at this point.

Wahlberg’s character was left on Earth at the end of the fourth film “Transformers: Age of Extinction” to look after the surviving Autobots and the Dinobots. Optimus Prime and co. meanwhile headed into space to search for their creators – the Quintessons.

It is rumored the new film, which is the first film being made following a major structural planning out of the franchise over the next decade or so, will be Optimus Prime’s final movie with Ultra Magnus taking over the leadership role on Earth in the story. Autobots Red Alert and Override are also joining the character list for the next film.

Michael Bay is expected to return to direct (but isn’t yet confirmed) while Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan are writing the script.
