Brazilian actor Wagner Moura (“Elite Squad”) is set to play Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini in new indie drama “Fellini Black and White” reports Variety.
Set in Los Angeles in 1957, the story follows Fellini’s first voyage to America to attend the Oscars, during which he went missing for 48 hours and barely made it to the ceremony. Afterwards he returned to Italy to create his two most iconic works – “La Dolce Vita” and “8 1/2”.
The film comes up with a scenario as to what happened during those two days – in this case discovering the jazz and surf scenes and falling for a veterinarian.
Terrence Howard, Peter Dinklage and William H. Macy are attached to play a jazz musician, the vet’s lover and Fellini’s publicist respectively. Henry Bromell (“Homeland”) directs from his own script while Andrew Lazar is producing.
