“Star Wars Celebration” kicked off in Orlando, Florida today and will be the source for a bunch of “Star Wars” news throughout the Easter weekend.
The first panel on the schedule was one celebrating the 40th anniversary of the series with guests like George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, etc. all showing up.
The moment that everyone’s talking about though was a tribute to the late Carrie Fisher with a five-minute video reel, a speech by her daughter Billie Lourd, and a surprise performance of both Leia’s theme and the “Star Wars” theme tune by composer John Williams and a live orchestra.
Not a dry eye was in the house judging by the reaction. The reel also included the first shot of Fisher shooting scenes for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” which you can see above.
