One of the most anticipated reveals of next week’s E3 gaming conference is that of “Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst,” the upcoming sequel/reboot of DICE’s acclaimed 2008 parkour action title “Mirror’s Edge”. The game, which will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One, still hasn’t locked in a date yet though it is expected to be as early as the end of this year or early 2016.
Before that though, DICE is lining up promotional pushes for the game including the six-issue comic prequel series “Mirror’s Edge: Exordium” from September. What they may not have anticipated though is the work of director and choreographer Claudiu Voicu who has come up with the fan video “Mirror’s Edge Catalyst – Real Life Time Trial”.
Conceived in the wake of last year’s E3 announcement trailer, the vid was filmed over eight months around South London’s Croydon area. It blends live-action footage with CG elements to create a video that feels VERY authentic to the game series itself complete with astonishing jumps and building climbs, shooting helicopters, sliding kicks to guards and screen distortions during high speed scenes all in what appears to be a single cut (though it’s not).
