Over the weekend a deleted scene from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” went online, one showing Chewbacca ripping off the arm of Simon Pegg’s Unkar Plutt character after the junk dealer threatens Rey at Maz Kanata’s castle.
The scene is a reference to 1977’s A New Hope in which Han Solo advises C-3PO to let Wookiee’s win as they have a habit of ripping people’s arms out of their sockets when they lose. It’s also a throwback to the Mos Eisley Cantina scene in which a character gets their arm sliced off by Obi-Wan’s lightsaber.
In the final cut of ‘Force Awakens’ the scene never takes place. Uploaded on Saturday, the clip has already racked up more than two million YouTube views. Check it out below:
