Vin Diesel’s “Kojak” Revival Gets New Scribe

Vin Diesel and Universal Pictures’ plans to revive the classic cop TV series “Kojak” on the big screen appears to be moving forward.

Today comes word that playwright Philip Gawthorne has reportedly taken over screenwriting duties from regular James Bond series writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Telly Savalas starred in the iconic original as New York City Police Department Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak. The gritty police procedural dealt with not just crime but institutionalized prejudice and the civil rights of suspects and witnesses.
