With Brad Bird’s acclaimed 1999 animated feature “The Iron Giant” scoring a re-release next month, one of the film’s key voice actors has revealed that we might be getting a possible follow-up in the near future.
Posting on his Facebook page, the voice of the titular robot himself Vin Diesel says: “I have been very lucky to have played so many interesting characters… one of the first and one of my favorites is… the Iron Giant. P.s. Don’t be surprised when you hear WB announce the sequel.”
The original film dealt with an unlikely friendship between a rebellious boy and a giant robot. Though a flop upon release, it has since become a major cult favorite on home video.
Fathom Events are behind the re-release which takes place at the end of next month, followed by “The Iron Giant: Signature Edition” Blu-ray release later this Fall.
