Emily Blunt (“The Devil Wears Prada”) is set to star in “The Young Victoria” for Initial Entertainment Group and Martin Scorsese producing.
Filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallee (“C.R.A.Z.Y.”) will direct the historical pic. Blunt will play the lively and warmhearted Victoria, who became England’s queen at age 18. The film will chronicle Victoria’s rise to power, focusing on the early turbulent years of her reign and her legendary romance and marriage to Prince Albert.
Oscar-winning scribe Julian Fellowes (“Gosford Park”) penned the script, while Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson introduced the project to King. No studio is yet attached.
