Jean-Claude Van Damme is officially set to return for “Kickboxer: Retaliation,” the upcoming sequel to “Kickboxer: Vengeance” which reboots the original 1989 “Kickboxer” in which he was the title character.
In the John Stockwell-directed ‘Vengeance’, the Belgian muscle man takes on the mentor role following a man (Alain Moussi) who seeks revenge for the death of his brother at the hands of a deadly foe (Dave Bautista) in an underground fighting ring.
In the sequel, Moussi’s character is forcibly taken back to Thailand to fend for his life against a new formidable foe. Filming on it begins in Thailand next week with Mike Tyson, Ronaldinho, and Hafpor Julius Bjornsson (The Mountain from “Game of Thrones”) also onboard.
‘Vengence’ will premiere in cinemas and on VOD in September, ‘Retaliation’ will hit sometime next year.
