“Poldark” and “Northern Soul” actor Josh Whitehouse has been set for the male lead role in the musical remake of the 1983 cult film “Valley Girl” for MGM.
Whitehouse will play a rebellious punk rock musician who falls in love with a squeaky-clean upscale girl from the Valley out of his league. The original version of the role launched Nicolas Cage’s career.
Jessica Rothe plays the titular girl in the new film which Rachel Lee Goldenberg is directing from a script by Amy Lee Talkington and Marti Noxon. Shooting kicks off in Los Angeles early this year.
