Vallee To Direct Hbos Gorilla And The Bird

HBO has given the green light to the new limited series “Gorilla and the Bird” from “Big Little Lies” and “Sharp Objects” director Jean-Marc Vallee. Valle is set to direct and executive produce the project, based on Zack McDermott’s novel.

Scribe Bryan Sipe, who worked with Vallee on “Demolition,” will serve as executive producer/showrunner of this inspirational tale of a mother’s unconditional love for her bipolar son. It follows Zack (the Gorilla), a formerly successful public defender who is committed to Bellevue Hospital and fights to regain his sanity after a devastating psychotic break, turning to the only person who didn’t give up on him – his mother (The Bird).

Channing Tatum, Nathan Ross, Marc Turtletaub, Peter Saraf, Robin Schwartz, Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan will executive produce.
