Nearly two years on since the announcement of the partnership between Sony Pictures and Valiant Entertainment, a new director has been secured for the first project in that deal – a film adaptation of the Valiant Comics title “Bloodshot”.
First time filmmaker Dave Wilson has been tapped to direct the project, taking over from the previously attached “John Wick” directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski who have gotten very busy of late with other commitments such as the “Highlander” reboot,” “Deadpool 2” and an inevitable third “John Wick”.
Eric Heisserer (“Arrival”) has penned the script for the film about a former soldier killed and brought back to life with technological upgrades, filling his body with billions of nanobots. This allows him to be the perfect soldier as he can instantaneously heal, shapeshift, and interact with technology.
Valiant Entertainment made the announcement over the weekend at Emerald City Comic Con. Wilson worked with “Deadpool” director Tim Miller at Blur Studios, and has directed cinematics for video games such as “Halo 2,” “Mass Effect 2” and “BioShock Infinite”.
Sony and Valiant’s deal calls for a whole cinematic universe based on the fan-favorite comic book line of characters. The aim was also to develop a “Harbinger” movie and then crossover the two in a “Harbinger War” feature.
