USA Picks Up Phillippe-Led “Shooter” Series

USA Network has officially ordered to series the small screen remake of the 2007 feature “Shooter”.

Ryan Phillippe steps into the role Mark Wahlberg played in the original – an off-the-grid former Marine sniper who is coaxed into action to thwart the killing of the U.S. President.

Double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he must call upon all his skills to avoid capture while hunting down and exposing the traitors who set him up. The story is adapted from Stephen Hunter’s novel “Point of Impact”.

Omar Epps co-stars in the series which has scored a ten episode order but does not yet have a premiere date. John Hlavin (“The Shield”) wrote and Simon Cellan Jones (“Ballers”) directed the pilot.

Hlavin will executive produce alongside Phillippe, Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
