USA Network has handed out a straight-to-series ten-episode order for “Brave New World,” the long in the works adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s famed book often listed as one of the greatest English-language novels of the 20th century.
Set 632 years into the future in the city of New London, the story imagines a utopian society which has achieved peace and stability through a rigid social order prohibiting monogamy, privacy, money, family and history itself. The work anticipated developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning.
First put into development at Syfy, UCP and Amblin Television four years ago, “Homecoming” producer David Wiener will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor, Owen Harris, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will also executive produce.
A mini writers room was opened in August and filming will take place in the UK. No premiere date has yet been set.
