USA Network has ordered four hourlong scripted pilots, the most notable being the action drama “Treadstone” based on the Jason Bourne film franchise and from “Heroes” creator Tim Kring.
The story revolves around the CIA black ops program known as Operation Treadstone, the series exploring the origin and present-day actions of the covert operation which uses behavior modification protocol to turn its agents into nearly unstoppable superhuman assassins.
The story follows sleeper agents across the globe as they are mysteriously ‘awakened’ to resume their deadly missions. Kring executive produces with Ramin Bahrani with the latter directing the pilot. Justin Levy, Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner executive produce.
The other three pilots include the cop drama “Erase” starring Denis Leary as a dirty ex-cop with photographic memory who starts showing early-onset Alzheimer’s, Sam Esmail’s new series based on Ross Tom’s novel “Briarpatch” about a dogged investigator clearing up her hometown’s corruption, and Peter Berg’s adaptation of Megan Abbott’s competitive high school cheerleading themed novel “Dare Me”.
Universal Cable Productions are producing all four shows.
