USA Network has opted not to renew its spy drama series “Covert Affairs” after five seasons, effectively cancelling it immediately.
Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham starred in the show which, in its prime, regularly averaged five million total viewers in live-plus-same-day returns. That number slipped to a rather disastrous 1.5 million for the most recent season- not enough to justify the renewal.
The series ended in mid-December on a cliffhanger as Perabo’s Annie was pondering a marriage proposal and new gig with a CIA task force, whilst Gorham’s Auggie was planning to move away from the CIA.
Producers had every plan to continue with the series, and so the abrupt ending means fans won’t get a resolution.
