Universal Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have teamed up to pick up the much sought after Dwayne Johnson-led action vehicle “Red Notice”.
The pair has won a bidding war that included almost all the major studios such as themselves along with Warners, Paramount and Sony. The $125-150 million budget project has now been put on the fast track and the plan is to film it in 2019.
Johnson plays a man working for INTERPOL, with the film’s title referring to the name given to the highest and most serious of the eight levels of notices within the international police agency. The actor is expected to nab around $20 million for his role, while director Rawson Marshall Thurber is tipped to pocket $10 million.
Universal is expected to be not just a distributor but co-financier on the film too and continues their relationship with Johnson which includes this year’s “Skyscraper” and next year’s “Fast and Furious” spin-off.
