Universal Sells Off Rogue Pictures

Universal Pictures is in talks to sell its Rogue Pictures label to Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity Media for $150 million reports Variety.

This would include the indie genre division’s thirty-title library, the four films it has set for release in 2009 (“Fighting,” “25/8”, “The Unborn” and “The Last House on the Left”, and its entire development slate of nearly three dozen projects.

Universal will still distribute any Rogue Pictures production through 2013 and pay Relativity a sub-10% distribution fee. Relativity would also pick up the label’s first-look deals with Platinum Dunes and Wes Craven.

Rogue has released such films as “The Strangers,” “Shaun of the Dead,” “Unleashed,” “Hot Fuzz,” “Doomsday,” “Balls of Fury,” “Cry Wolf,” “Seed of Chucky,” “The Return,” “Assault on Precinct 13” and “The Hitcher”.
