“Uncharted: Lost Legacy” Length & Date Set

Naughty Dog has announced that the upcoming “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” is set to score a release on August 22nd in the U.S. and the following day in Europe.

Th game, which has a RRP of $39.99, has expanded far beyond its original “Uncharted 4” DLC plans and into a fully fledged game. Though not as lengthy as a regular “Uncharted” game, the campaign is still said to run a beefy ten hours long.

The story follows fan favorite Australian treasure hunter Chloe Frazer (Claudia Black) teaming up with the fourth game’s South African mercenary Nadine Ross (Laura Bailey) to venture across India in search of the fabled Tusk of Ganesh. Naughty Dog said back in December that the game will be “complete with its own deep narrative with complex character development, all-new destinations, refined gameplay, and blockbuster cinematic moments.”

Speaking with IBT this week, Naughty Dog Director of Communications Arne Meyer said upon starting on the project, the team realised it was quickly ballooning. Rather than throttle back, they decided to deliver the experience they originally set out to create:

“There’s no way we could, sort of, constrict and restrain ourselves, and that’s exactly what was happening here. When we were doing story pitches, we were coming up with a game that would be over ten hours long and so we suddenly realized everything we said was true and we couldn’t keep it short.”

Those with the “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” Digital Deluxe Edition, Explorer’s Pack, or the Triple Pack – you’ll get “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” free as a digital download at launch. However, owners of these products are not eligible for any pre-order bonuses. The dropping of a few weapon and costume skins though is a small price to pay for a fully fledged new “Uncharted” tale though.
