What was to be the biggest PlayStation 4 exclusive video game of 2015 has now become the biggest PlayStation 4 exclusive game of 2016. It has been announced that “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” has been pushed back from a proposed late 2015 to a Spring 2016 release.
Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann says: “This game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for. So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End not only meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title.”
While Sony still has some massive exclusives coming for 2015, such as “No Man’s Sky” and this month’s “Bloodborne,” the loss of the first PS4 title from its flagship franchise will be felt – especially in the Fall when the Xbox One will be loudly touting both “Halo 5: Guardians” and timed exclusive “Rise of the Tomb Raider”.
In the wake of last Fall’s disastrous release of several broken or problematic AAA exclusives though, it’s good to see Naughty Dog making sure to take the time to get this right.
