Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” pulled in a whopping $27.6 million from opening night screenings on Thursday night in the United States.
In comparison, the first film made $18.7 million from opening night screenings. That movie went on to an all-time opening weekend record high of $207 million.
It’s a safe bet that ‘Ultron’ will break that record and score the top domestic opening weekend of all time.
Presales for the new film are said to top presales for all previous Marvel films combined. Overseas where the film has opened in just over half the world’s territories, the film has already amassed a foreign box-office total of $287 million after just a week.
