UK news broadcaster The BBC has confirmed that both the United Kingdom and France are set to get J.J. Abrams’ upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” a little earlier than expected.
‘Force’ has been confirmed for a December 17th release in the UK, while the French will get it even earlier on December 16th – ahead of the December 18th U.S. release. The move is not unusual as Disney has made it a habit to open its tentpoles a day or two earlier in some European locations.
In other “Star Wars” news today, it seems the recently announced “Star Wars: Episode IX” director Colin Trevorrow (“Jurassic World”) has begun work on the project and has tweeted the following photo:

Filming on “Star Wars: Episode IX” isn’t expected to begin for quite some time yet. Trevorrow is expected to work with Lucasfilm to further develop the script.
