Following their first attempt with “Assassin’s Creed,” Ubisoft is planning more goes at film adaptations of their video game properties with work underway on a live-action TV series based on “Child of Light,” and a film based on “Werewolves Within”.
Both adaptations are products of the company’s inaugural Women’s Film and Television Fellowship. Mishna Wolff and Tasha Huo were selected as the first two in the program and were given access to Ubisoft’s massive library of properties – each selected a property for potential development and then spent six months working one-on-one with key personnel.
Both Wolff and Huo then pitched their ideas to Ubisoft Motion Pictures and both were given script deals with the pair now writing the scripts for the film and pilot respectively. The TV series aims to capture the tone of a “playable fairytale with a strong female heroine” while the film will be a live-action horror comedy.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures remains in development on live-action film adaptations of “The Division,” “Ghost Recon,” and the animated “Rabbids”.
