U.S. Gay Marriage Ruling Gets A Movie

Fox 2000 has acquired the life rights to Jim Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit and Supreme Court case that effectively legalized same-sex marriage in the United States on June 26th.

The studio has also picked up the life rights to Obergefell’s attorney Al Gerhardstein, and a book proposal by Obergefell and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Debbie Cenziper to be titled “21 Years to Midnight”.

Obergefell married John Arthur in Maryland in 2013, three months before Arthur died. The state of Ohio refused to list Obergefell as his spouse on the death certificate, so Obergefell sued.

“The Fault in Our Stars” and “Twilight” producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are set to produce the project.
