Lionsgate has confirmed that Tyler Perry (“Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” “Madea’s Family Reunion”) will once again portary Madea and Uncle Joe in “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns,” based on the stage play of the same name.
The story centers on a single mother living in inner-city Chicago who takes her family to Georgia for the funeral of her father, whom she never met. There, she is introduced to the Browns, her father’s fun-loving, crass Southern clan.
This marks the fifth film for the studio and fourth for Perry as director. Production begins in this Summer in Atlanta for an early 2008 release, his next film “Why Did I Get Married” opens in November, and his new series “House of Payne” began on TBS last night.
