Lionsgate has announced today that it has acquired the rights to the next two films from multi-hyphenate Tyler Perry, marking their eighth and ninth collaboration together.
As previously reported, the first is “Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself” which will begin production March 16th at the new Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.
New information though is that Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson (“Hustle and Flow,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) will head up the cast, which also features Perry’s signature character the indomitable Madea. and a September 11th 2009 release has already been set.
The second project will be”Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too”, a sequel to 2007’s “Why Did I Get Married”. Shooting on that begins later this year with a release nationwide on April 2nd 2010.
