Twilight’s Kellan Lutz Goes To “Elm Street”

“Twilight” actor Kellan Lutz has joined the cast of the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remake for Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line says The Hollywood Reporter.

Lutz is in negotiations to play a popular school jock. Due to his commitment to shoot “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”, his role in ‘Elm’ will not kick off until late in the shoot.

He joins the recently cast Thomas Dekker (“Heroes,” “Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles”) as an alpha male swimmer trying to get back together with his girlfriend, and Rooney Mara as a girl who can’t wait to leave town after graduation.

Kyle Gallner takes on the role played by Johnny Depp in the 1984 original, while Jackie Earle Haley (“Watchmen,” “Little Children”) is the new Freddy Krueger.

Samuel Bayer helms the film which kicks off filming May 5th in Chicago.
