CBS All Access has officially announced Academy-Award winning writer Jordan Peele will serve as the host of the third revival of the classic anthology series “The Twilight Zone”. In addition, an announcement trailer for the series has been released.
Legendary writer/producer Rod Sterling hosted the original 1959-1964 version, and Forest Whitaker hosted the short-lived 2002 version. Peele has long been attached as executive producer but had initially resisted hosting, concerned his face being more familiar as a comedy star would take away from the show’s tone. Ultimately he’s decided to join and in a statement via THR, Peele says:
“Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours. I’m honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of ‘The Twilight Zone.'”
Peele, Simon Kinberg, Marco Ramirez, Win Rosenfeld and Audrey Chon will serve as executive producers for the series and collaborate on the premiere episode. Production begins on the series later this year.
