Premise: "Batman: The Animated Series" was an animated series that premiered on September 5, 1992. The series was based on the popular Batman comics created by Bob Kane. The series focused on the adventures of Batman, the secret identity of millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne and a dark vigilante hero who defends Gotham City from a variety of costumed villians that include The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, The Riddler, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, The Scarecrow, Ra's al Ghul, The Mad Hatter, Bane, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Clayface, Maxie Zeus, The Ventriloquist, The Clock King and more regular mob criminals like Rupert Thorne and Roland Daggett.

The highly successful series merged revolutionary animation and great storytelling. The series was so successful that three feature-length films have been created using the characters, voice actors and animation. The first 65 episodes of the series focused mainly on the adventures of Batman alone with occasional help from Robin and Alfred.

The next twenty episodes were retitled "The Adventures of Batman and Robin" and focused on the adventures of both Batman and his younger crime fighting associate Robin. The series was followed by a spinoff utilizing different animation entitled "The New Adventures of Batman" which was broadcast in 1997 and lasted for about two dozen episodes.
