TV Spots: Outcast, Teen Wolf, Shannara, Magicians

With New York Comic Con underway, a bunch of cable genre shows have released new trailers and made a few key announcements regarding their premieres or returns to their respective networks. First up, MTV has announced a premiere date for the second half of the fifth season of “Teen Wolf” along with releasing a trailer for the new batch of ten episodes which premiere January 5th.

The MTV network has also released a new NYCC trailer for the fantasy tale “The Shannara Chronicles,” based on the best-selling fantasy novels by Terry Brooks. Set thousands of years after the destruction of our civilization, the story follows an Elven Princess, a half-human half-elf and a human who msut stop a Demon army from destroying the Four Lands.

Then there’s a Con trailer for Syfy’s “The Magicians” based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling young adult novels of the same name about a grad student who enrolls in a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic.

Finally comes the first trailer for “Outcast,” Cinemax’s new exorcism-themed TV series based on the comics by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman. “Almost Famous” and “Gone Girl” star Patrick Fugit star in the series which boasts a pilot directed by Adam Wingard (“The Guest,” “You’re Next”).
