TV Promos: Britannia, Terror, State & More

There has been a ton of TV promo trailers for upcoming new shows in 2018 in the past few days and here’s a full rundown of all of them:

Amazon has released the trailer for its rock-n-roll take on the ancient Romans’ attempted invasion of Britannia and the pushback by the Celts with their warrior women and powerful Druids. David Morrissey, Kelly Reilly, Zoe Wanamaker, Ian McDiarmid and Mackenzie Crook star in the series which his Amazon Prime later this year.

The Terror
AMC has released the full-length trailer for “The Terror,” its upcoming series which offers a fictional spin on the ill-fated Franklin expedition to find the Northwest Passage above the Arctic Circle. The crew of two ships, the Terror and the Erebus, find themselves stuck in the ice and being hunted by a large and mysterious predator picking them off one-by-one. Ciaran Hinds and Jared Harris lead the cast of the show which arrives on March 26th.

Deep State
Fox Networks Group has offered a first-look at the global espionage thriller series “Deep State” starring Mark Strong. The project marks the first regional scripted commission for Europe and Africa and has Strong as an ex-spy, whose past comes back to haunt him. The series launches April 5th.

“Castle” star Stana Katic returns to TV in Amazon Prime’s new original series “Absentia”. She plays an FBI agent who returns to her life after going missing while in pursuit of a serial killer. Declared dead in absentia, she is found six years later with no memory of her kidnapping – and a slew of murders that are somehow connected to her. Amazon premieres the series on February 2nd.

HBO has released the new trailer for “Peep Show” and “The Thick of It” writer Jesse Armstrong’s new comedy series “Succession”. Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Jeremy Strong, Matthew Macfadyen and Hiam Abbas lead the cast of this story of a family controlled international media conglomerate. Adam McKay and Will Ferrell are producing the series which premieres in June.

Here and Now
“Six Feet Under” and “True Blood” creator Alan Ball returns to HBO with this new drama series about a multi-racial adopted family (one Colombian, one Somalian, and one Vietnamese) who is suddenly thrown into disarray when one of the kids starts having strange visions. Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins lead the cast of the series which premieres February 11th.

The Looming Tower
Hulu has released a new trailer for “The Looming Tower,” its upcoming drama series based on Lawrence Wright’s book of the same name. The work tracks the rise of Al-Qaeda and the intelligence failures that ultimately led to 9/11. Jeff Daniels, Alec Baldwin, Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bill Camp, and Tahar Rahim lead the cast of the series which premieres February 28th.

Everything Sucks
Netflix has unveiled the first promo for “Everything Sucks,” a new 1990s-set series about the high school experience of that decade in Oregon. Peyton Kennedy and Jahi Winston lead the cast of the show in which two crews of nerdy-edgy outsiders join forces to make a movie and endure the purgatory known as high school. The series premieres February 26th.

The Mechanism
Netflix has revealed the first trailer and photos from its original Brazilian series “The Mechanism” which premieres worldwide on Friday, March 23rd. “Elite Squad” filmmaker Jose Padilha created the character-driven original series inspired by real events in Brazil about a small group of dogged investigators come to discover the inner workings of a monstrous corruption scheme.

Let’s Get Physical
Pop TV has released a trailer for their aerobics comedy “Let’s Get Physical” starring Jane Seymour, Matt Jones, Chris Diamantopoulos and AnnaLynne McCord.

Jones plays a middle-aged slacker who makes a reluctant comeback in the fitness industry after his dad, the ‘Godfather of Aerobics,’ unexpectedly passes away and wills Joe the broke-down family gym with eccentric provisions attached to get his actual fortune and estate.
