TV News: WonderWorld, Avenger, Morals

Starz, Owen Wilson and Emmy winning writer/producer Rene Balcer (“Law & Order”) are teaming to develop “WonderWorld,” a period FBI drama set during the Reagan era and inspired by one of the biggest undercover operations in FBI history.

The Avenger
The CW is developing a loose TV series adaptation of the pulp 1930s magazine series series “The Avenger”. Deric Hughes and Benjamin Raab (“Warehouse 13”) are penning the project.

The story follows a young woman who, due to genetic bio-hacking, can transform her appearance at will. She uses these talents to investigate the mystery of her parents’ deaths. [Source: Deadline]

Public Morals
Ed Burns will write, star in and direct the period cop drama “Public Morals” for TNT. Burns, Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Aaron Lubin will executive produce.

Set in New York City in 1967, the story centers on the Police’s Public Morals Division which deals with all kinds of vice, and the moral line is hard to see. Burns plays a cop determined to raise his sons to be honest and hardworking. [Source: The Live Feed]
