Doctor Who
The five writers and four directors of the upcoming ten-episode new season of “Doctor Who” have been revealed, joining new showrunner Chris Chibnall (“Broadchurch”) and new star Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor. The new season begins this Fall on BBC One.

Writers include Pete McTighe (“Wentworth”), Joy Wilkinson (“Doctors”), Ed Hime (“Skins”), Vinay Patel (“Murdered By My Father”) and Malorie Blackman (“Pig Heart Boy”). The Light
UK’s Channel 4 and Hulu has picked up the four-part drama series “The Light” written by Jack Thorne (“National Treasure”). The series will look at disability and focus on the repercussions of a catastrophic disaster that befalls a community in a small but fading Welsh town.

Personal and communal grief gives way to a torrent of anger and blame, and the community finds itself torn apart and powerless in the face of seemingly inexorable political and business forces. Shooting will start in 2019. [Source: Deadline]

Jacki Weaver, Bryan Brown, Ryan Corr, Phoebe Tonkin and Daniel Henshall are set to headline the six-part sci-fi series “Bloom” for Australian streaming service Stan. Production is now underway in Victoria.

The story takes place a year after a devastating flood has killed five locals in an idyllic country town, and when a mysterious new plant appears. The plant’s phenomenal ability to restore youth is so formidable that attempting to harness it means re-evaluating values. [Source: Variety]

Beecham House
Tom Bateman, Lesley Nicol, Gregory Fitoussi, Adil Ray, Marc Warren, Pallavi Sharda, Dakota Blue Richards, Leo Suter and Bessie Carter are set to lead the cast of Gurinder Chadha’s upcoming lavish six-part India-set drama series “Beecham House” for ITV.

Set on the cusp of the 19th century in Delhi before the era of British rule, Beecham House follows the fortunes of the residents of the titular and imposing mansion. The series premieres next year. [Source: Deadline]
