Teen Titans
Anna Diop (“24: Legacy”) has been cast as the flying and energy bolt shooting alien princess refugee comics character Starfire in the upcoming live-action series “Titans” based on DC’s “Teen Titans”. She joins the recently cast Teagan Croft as Raven.

The story follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe, led by former Robin Dick Grayson. Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns and Sarah Schecter are producing for Warner Bros. TV with a 2018 premiere planned for DC’s new digital service. [Source: Deadline]

Manifest
Robert Zemeckis (“Back to the Future,” “Flight”) and Jeff Rake (“The Mysteries of Laura,” “The Tomorrow People”) have been set to executive produce “Manifest,” a pilot for NBC about the disappearance of a passenger jet that suddenly returns five years later after no trace of the wreckage was found.

No time has passed for the people on the plane, though it has for everyone they left behind. The story will explore the mystery of the disappearance, as well as the personal lives of the survivors and their families. [Source: Deadline]

Get Shorty
EPIX has renewed its series adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s novel “Get Shorty” for a ten episode second season to air next year. The show, starring Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano, has been the network’s most successful original scripted series to date. [Source: EPIX]

Progeny
Edward Burns’ Marlboro Road Gang Productions is teaming with Radar Pictures for a TV series adaptation of bestselling author Tosca Lee’s “The Progeny”. Burns and Aaron Lubin will executive produce.

The story centers on Audra, a regular girl from Maine who is suddenly made aware that she is a direct descendant of Elizabeth Bathory, the 16th century blood countess. A group of global assassins, sworn to wipe out the bloodline, are on her trail. [Source: TV Line]

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
BBC America has premiered the first trailer for the second season of “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” starring Samuel Barnett and Elijah Wood. The ten new episodes, which will have more of a fantasy vibe, will kick off October 14th in the United States and will stream globally on Netflix in countries outside the US.
