DC Universe has released a few new photos from their upcoming “Swamp Thing” TV series, the photos featuring the main human characters along with a look at Swamp Thing itself. The series stars Andy Bean, Will Patton, Crystal Reed, Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Henderson Wade, Kevin Durand, Leonardo Nam and Derek Mears. Boy Swallows Universe
Anonymous Content, Chapter One, Hopscotch Features and actor/filmmaker Joel Edgerton are teaming to produce an international TV drama series adaptation of Australian journalist Trent Dalton’s lauded debut novel “Boy Swallows Universe”. A writer has yet to be set.
The 1980s Brisbane set coming-of-age story follows a young boy living in a violent working-class suburban fringe trying to find his way despite his mum being in jail, his stepfather pushing heroine, and the attention of a local drug kingpin. Amid this fraught existence, he also navigates his first romance. [Source: Deadline]
Oscar and Emmy-winning actress Holly Hunter is joining the second season cast of HBO’s drama series “Succession” in a recurring role. Jesse Armstrong (“In the Loop”) and Adam McKay (“The Big Short”) executive produce the series which follows the Roy family as they struggle to retain control of their empire. Hunter will play Rhea Jarrell, the politically savvy CEO of a rival media conglomerate. [Source: Deadline]
FX is in early development on a series based on Akwaeke Emezi’s debut novel “Freshwater”. Emezi herself will write and executive produce the project along with Tamara P. Carter (“The Leftovers”). The series focuses on Ada, a Nigerian student in her final year of college who finds out that she has three spirits living in her subconscious. They eventually take control of her, threatening to ruin her life and sanity. [Source: Variety]
Hulu has announced a June 21st premiere date for the brand-new Hulu Original animated kids series “The Bravest Knight” based on the popular children’s book by Daniel Errico. The story chronicles a young pumpkin farmer’s adventure as he attempts to become the bravest knight who ever lived. Hulu has ordered thirteen episodes with the first five hitting on that date, the rest popping up later this year.
