TV News: Spartacus, Merlin, Soul, Noir

Anna Hutchison (“Cabin in the Woods”), Jenna Lind (“Burning Man”) and Gwendoline Taylor (“Blue Mermaid”) have all joined the cast of the third season of Starz’s “Spartacus” which will begin production soon for airing early 2013.

Hutchison will play Laeta, the privileged wife of a Roman dignitary. Lind will portray a loyal slave to Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells). Taylor will play a beautiful young slave rescued from Roman cruelty. [Source: TV Line]

Alexander Vlahos will replace “Hugo” star Asa Butterfield as a more grown up version of Morded in the upcoming fifth season of “Merlin”.

Mordred plays a major role in the season which also includes a guest turn from Liam Cunningham (“Game of Thrones”). [Source: Digital Spy]

Soul Survivor
Lionsgate is in negotiations with Reliance to produce “Soul Survivor”, an online animated show starting Sylvester Stallone. Stallone would play a last-of-his kind mercenary.

This would mark the fourth such online series Lionsgate is partnering on – the other three being “Endgame” for Hulu Plus, “Orange is the New Black” for Netflix, and “Bite Me!” for Machinima. [Source: The Hollywood Reporter.

L.A. Noir
“Gangster Squad” actress Haley Strode has been tapped to guest star in Frank Darabont’s period crime drama pilot “L.A. Noir” at TNT.

The story revolves around the revolves around the police force’s pursuit of mobster Mickey Cohen in the 1930’s. Strode will play Cohen’s first victim whom he killed when he was nine years old. [Source: The Live Feed]
