Spartacus: Blood and Sand
Starz new original series pulled 553,000 viewers on Starz and then gathered another 460,000 on Encore, easily their most-watched debut yet. Combined with DVR and repeats, the “Spartacus” premiere is expected to clear two million viewers.

The “Battlestar Galactica” spin-off had a modest premiere on Syfy on Friday, the pilot pulling in 1.6 million viewers despite being one of the only alternatives to watch that night when the “Hope For Haiti” telethon roadblocked over 50 networks. Of course the pilot has been available on DVD and download since April last year, which means the real test will come next week as fresh episodes kick off.

Comic writer Brian Michael Bendis’ “Powers”is being turned into a pilot for a possible series on the FX network. The series focuses on detectives who handle cases having to do with “powers,” or people who have superpowers. “Journeyman” creator Kevin Falls will co-write the pilot with Bendis.

Robot Chicken
Showrunners Seth Green and Matthew Senreich have made a deal with Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim for a two-season, 40-episode pick-up for seasons five and six. The Emmy-nominated series remains the highest-rated original series on Adult Swim.

Criminal Minds
Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is in final negotiations to star on CBS’ potential “Criminal Minds” spinoff. The story revolves around a new group of profilers who work outside the FBI bureaucracy. The team will be introduced on an episode of “Criminal Minds” in the spring.

Rex Is Not My Lawyer
The David Tennant-led legal drama pilot has been put on hold by NBC with sets being dismantled. Rumor was the show was being fast tracked into production for a potential Spring debut, now it seems it will have to wait like everyone else until the new Fall-premiering series are announced in May to see if it will get picked up.
