Netflix has confirmed that the second season of its Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield-led British comedy “Sex Education” will premiere on January 17th 2020. In the new season, Otis Milburn must master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola (Patricia Allison) while also dealing with his now strained relationship with Maeve (Emma Mackey). Moordale Secondary is in the throes of a Chlamydia outbreak and Milburn is coming to terms with his mother’s new relationship. [Source: Twitter]
The Second Half
Fox has handed out a script order (with a penalty attached) for the Steph Curry and Will Arnett produced multicamera basketball comedy series “The Second Half”. Sean Clements is writing the script and executive producing.
The series takes a humorous look at a retired NBA player who moves back home to Charlotte, North Carolina, buys a car wash and struggles to reconnect with his father, daughter, ex-girlfriend and childhood best friend. He starts to realize that when it comes to the game of life, he’s going to need a lot more practice. [Source: The Wrap]
Aardman Animation (“Shaun the Sheep,” “Wallace and Gromit”) is reportedly set to create the 30-minute stop-motion musical short film “Robin Robin” which will debut on Netflix around Christmas 2020. Dan Ojari and Mikey Please helm the film which will be made with natural materials rather than the usual plasticine.
The story follows a bird raised by a family of mice. As the bird grows up, the differences between her and her rodent family start to become apparent. But eager to prove she can still be a good mouse, she heads off on a daring heist. [Source: Variety]
NBC has given a pilot commitment to Ben Stiller‘s forthcoming U.S. remake of British comedy series “Home”. The series adaptation will be directed and executive produced by Stiller who recently also signed on to direct “Severance” for Apple TV+. Stacy Traub will write and also executive produce.
The story follows a couple who go on a long weekend trip to a cabin in the woods with Melanie’s son Jonah. They return with Jay, a Syrian refugee who moves in with them and the cobbled-together family soon discovers what home really means. [Source: Deadline]
A Christmas Carol
FX has released a new trailer for its “A Christmas Carol” telemovie which stars Guy Pearce as Ebenezer Scrooge, the miserable mister who receives three ghostly visitors try to show him the error of his ways. Andy Serkis, Charlotte Riley and Jason Flemyng play the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present & Future respectively while Stephen Graham is Jacob Marley. The project premieres December 19th.
