Starz has set a Sunday, June 30th premiere date for its supernatural spy drama “The Rook”. Based on the novel by Daniel O’Malley and adapted by playwrights and screenwriters Sam Holcroft and Al Muriel, the story follows a woman who wakes up with no memory of who she is ora way to explain the dead bodies splayed around her.
When she discovers she is a high-ranking official in the Checquy, Britain’s last truly secret service for people with paranormal abilities, she must find out the truth and why she is a target. Emma Greenwell and Olivia Munn star. [Source: Starz]
Ahead of the fourth season finale airing June 9th, Showtime has renewed its drama series “Billions” for a fifth season with award winners Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis set to return. The new episodes will kick off early next year. [Source: Showtime]
Untitled Stumptown Project
ABC has handed out a series order to a currently untitled drama series based on the graphic novel “Stumptown” and starring Marvel Cinematic Universe alum Cobie Smulders. ABC Studios is producing the project which follows strong, assertive, sharp-witted army veteran Dex Parios who has a complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother to take care of in Portland. Her military intelligence skills make her a great P.I., but her unapologetic style puts her in the firing line of hardcore criminals and not quite in alliance with the police. [Source: Deadline]
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD
ABC has released a new sneak peek of the premiere of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” which returns to ABC on May 10th. The clip sees the search for Fitz, adrift in space, currently underway. The new season has Mack taking over SHIELD in the wake of Coulson’s death, but when a new enemy shows up wearing Coulson’s face – it will drive the team to desperate measures.
