Showtime has officially picked up “Shameless” for a third season, “House of Lies” for a second and “Californication” for a sixth. All three shows are currently airing on Sunday nights and each have steadily grown.

The second season of “Shameless” is scoring 4.75 million weekly viewers across platforms (up 30% on last year) and is the network’s second highest rated show behind “Dexter”.

In its debut season “House of Lies” is pulling in 3.98 million weekly viewers and is on track to be the network’s highest-rated comedy. “Californication” is scoring 2.96 million viewers across platforms, up 10% on last year.

Untitled Kevin Williamson Project
Kevin Bacon is near a deal to star in “Vampire Diaries” showrunner Kevin Williamson’s untitled new drama pilot.

The story is described as a thriller about the complex relationship between a diabolical serial killer and the damaged FBI agent (Bacon) who took him down.

After the killer escaped, the agent is reactivated and discovers that he is no longer just hunting one man, but a massive cult of serial killers created and manipulated during his time in prison. [Source: EW]

Star Wars: Underworld
Finally today a dubious rumour has popped up at AICN regarding “Star Wars: Underworld”, the live-action “Star Wars” series that will be stuck in development for at least a few years.

Apparently the series will feature a plot element more often seen in the rival “Star Trek” franchise – time travel. Some of the first episodes will involve a group of bandits acquiring the capability of time travel, and using it to travel back in time to stop Darth Vader from ever existing. [Source: AICN]
