TV News: Ratings, Amazon, Exp, Versace

Rebel Wilson’s new ABC comedy “Super Fun Night” premiered on Wednesday night to a solid 3.2 rating, thanks in part to its “Modern Family” lead-in. That rating is about the same as last year’s new comedy in the same timeslot – “The Neighbors”.

On the flip side, NBC’s new drama “Ironside” opened with a fairly dismal 1.4 rating but a decent 6.8 million audience. Still, that makes it the lowest ever NBC fall drama debut. It’s also the second lowest drama debut of any show this fall – only a step in front of ABC’s “Lucky 7” (1.3).

Amazon Pilots
Amazon has unveiled three new comedy pilot orders for its Prime streaming service. First is Roman Coppola’s “Mozart in the Jungle” stars Jason Schwartzman and deals with the world of classical music and all the vice that goes on behind the scenes.

Second is “The Outlaws” about a a professional football team from the perspective of both the players and the back office. The third is Jill Soloway’s darkly comic “Transparent” about an LA family with serious boundary issues. [Source: Amazon]

“Heroes” creator Tim Kring is set to produce “Exp” for The CW and Warner Bros. TV. Zach Craley and Jarrett Conaway penned the story and script.

The story explores what happens when a foreign designer drug, one that improves people physically and mentally, is trafficked illegally into American high schools. [Source: Deadline]
