TV News: Powers, Cobb, Bay, Bloodhounds

Sony’s Playstation Network has officially unveiled the first poster for their first original TV series, an adaptation of the acclaimed comic series “Powers” starring Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward. IGN premiered the poster which will debut at New York Comic Con this weekend.

The pair – along with their fellow cast members including Susan Heyward, Olesya Rulin, Noah Taylor, Logan Browning, Eddie Izzard and executive producer/comic creator Brian Bendis – will all be on hand for a panel at the convention to promote the show. The series debuts in December.

IDW Entertainment and eOne Television are teaming to develop a TV series adaptation of the conspiracy thriller comic miniseries “Cobb”. Thania St. John (“Covert Affairs”) is writing the script and will serve as show runner.

The story follows Frank Cobb, a high-ranking Secret Service agent whose life gets turned upside down when he is removed from duty after stumbling onto a deadly conspiracy. He must win back his reputation and save the newly elected U.S. President. [Source: Deadline]

Bay Of Plenty
Carnival Films, The BBC and “Luther” creator Neil Cross are teaming for the drama series “Bay Of Plenty”.

The story centers on ex-Metropolitan police officer who emigrates with her family to the New Zealand town of Rotorua after being injured in the line of duty. She joins the local force where she is partnered with a tough and eccentric Maori detective. [Source: SunLive]

CBS has begun development of the cop drama “Bloodhounds,” a remake of the French series “Les Limiers”. “John Doe” co-creator Brandon Camp will pen the series.

The American version follows a hand-picked U.S. Marshals task force who are given immunity from police protocols. This allows them to use whatever means and off-the-books surveillance tech at their disposal to nab the bad guys. [Source: AV Club]
