Showtime has posted both a new photo and a new teaser trailer for their upcoming Victorian London-era horror series “Penny Dreadful” which airs this spring. The series features some of literature’s most famously terrifying characters.

Despite competition from the Golden Globes, HBO’s new drama “True Detective” scored 2.3 million viewers during its inaugural telecast – the biggest HBO premiere since “Boardwalk Empire” with 4.8 million) in 2010.

The show pulled in an additional 1 million viewers during its additional broadcast. Meanwhile, returning comedy “Girls” also scored a first-run series high with 1.1 million viewers, a 28% increase on the second season opener. [Source: The Live Feed]
